COOKING EXPERIENCE

Culinary PhotoHealthy Cooking Fundamentals

(Ages 8 - 12)
This class encompasses basic culinary arts skills. Learn how to plan and make meals while developing basic culianry skills. Also, learn basic nutirtion information on how to eat healthy and the importance of using fresh vegetables when cooking any meals in the kitchen. How To Register

Culinary PhotoCooking With A Chef

(Ages 17+)
This class provides an introduction to professional cooking (culinary arts). Learn how to plan and make meals while developing basic knife skills, seasoning skills, and how to sauté using less oils and fats. Learn soup making, breads, and healthy snacks. Also, learn basic nutrition information on how to eat healthy. Will gain the necessary skills to earn a SafeServ Certificate. No class Tuesday, July 4th.

GARDENING EXPERIENCE

Urban Gardening

(Ages 8 - 12)
Be prepared to get your hands dirty, grow fruits and veggies, and learn new things. Participants receive hands-on instruction in organic city farming, including interactive discussions, field trips, and activities such as composting, pruning, seed sprouting, mixing soil, fertilizing, transplanting seedlings, weeding, and harvesting. (The class is co-sponsored by the Rainbow Recreation Center.) How To Register

Urban Gardening for Seniors

(Ages 50+)
Gardens improve your health and wellness, instill the value of healthy eating, increase physical activity, improve achievement, and create highly engaging, interactive, and hands on learning environments. Participants gain empowerment and the knowledge to start their own home gardens to grow their own food. (The class is co-sponsored by the Rainbow Recreation Center.)

School Gardening Teacher Training

(for School Teachers - Ages 21+)
Classroom teachers will learn the basics of school garden site design, plant propagation, care and harvesting, composting and vermicomposting, and organic pest management. Classroom teachers will learn basic lessons for integrating gardening education with curriculum standards in science, math, and social studies. Lessons will be appropriate for students from 3rd - 7th grade. How To Register

MULTI-MEDIA EXPERIENCE

Video For Social Media

Ages 12 - 16)
Have you always wanted to be behind the camera? Do you have a story to tell or a music video you want to make? This program will introduce participants to video equipment and techniques that will support producing video projects. You will complete a series of exercises and individual projects that will give you a foundation for personal expression through digital media. Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate a variety of production skills and techniques including: camera basics, lighting skills, sound recording, storyboarding and editing. Beat Making With Reason

(Ages 12 - 16)
Reason is integrated music production software with a massive collection of sounds and digital instruments included. In this class you will learn how to make and produce songs using synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines. This is a hands on class that will show you the basic fundamentals of creating your own music. Basic piano chords and studio etiquette will also be emphasized.

The Beginning Guitar class will help you learn the parts of the acoustic guitar, how to hold a guitar, use a pick, and, tune a guitar. You will also learn some basic chords and a few songs. Come and learn finger and hand exercises, as well as, learn how to properly maintain your guitar so that it lasts for years to come. (This is a FREE class sponsored by Guitars Not Guns, Inc.)

Agreculture PhotoStudio Training Workshop

(Ages 17+)
This course will help bridge the gap between the academic and professional music worlds by providing singers with hands on experience in the environment of a professional recording studio. Students will learn techniques on proper headphone use, how to blend with others, how to choose the right microphone, protocol for session singers, how to find employment as a session singer, and much more.

Kidz Bop Camp

Students will be recorded singing a kid-friendly version of a pop music hit. During this time they will learn the recording process. Students will then have an opportunity to learn the basics of video making by producing a music video of the recorded song as the final project.
