Baking PhotoFun With Baking Basics (DACA)

(Ages 13 - 18) Course ID: 00034819 and 00034820

With the guidance of Chef Scott Marsh, workshop attendees will learn the fundamental techniques of baking. Students will also learn how to make cookies, cakes, frostings, pastry creams, and breads. This will also be the perfect forum for students to learn how to work in groups and learn time management.

MUSIC EXPERIENCE

Kidz Bop Camp Photo

Kidz Bop Camp (DACA)

Students will be recorded singing a kid-friendly version of a pop music hit. During this time they will learn the recording process. Students will then have an opportunity to learn the basics of video making by producing a music video of the recorded song as the final project.

MULTI-MEDIA EXPERIENCE

Video For Social Media (DACA)

Through this course you will be introduced to various media forms (e.g., filming, editing, etc.). You will be doing projects in Apple´s iMovie. At the end of the course you will be expected to complete a final project of your choice.

Adult Classes

COOKING EXPERIENCE

Cooking Basics PhotoCooking Basics for Adults (DACA)

(Ages 18+) Course ID: 00034821

You will learn intermediate cooking techniques to help you prepare restaurant quality dishes at home. Skills learned in this class: Dicing vegetables, sautéing, roasting, searing meats, how to make pan sauces, and how to make healthier substitutions of ingredients.

Baking PhotoCooking For Health Academy (DACA)

(Ages 18+) Course ID: 00034822

This is the perfect class to learn basic cooking skills. You will also learn what you need to know to successfully get a Food Handler's Certificate. Each class covers: nutrition education, basis culinary skills, hands-on food preparation, food safety, and seasonal produce tips. After attending of all classes participants will receive a certificate of completion. The last class on September 30th will be from 3pm to 7pm for those that want to take the online training and exam to earn a Food Handler's Certificate. This class is sponsored by the Alameda County Nutrition Services.

GARDENING EXPERIENCE

Gardening PhotoGrandma's Hands

(Ages 18+) Course ID: 00034818

This 10-week Summer course will help individuals learn how to interface with existing land/gardens. Working as a team, you will have gain the ability to work the land/gardens under supervised coaching, along with written guidelines. This course will provide hands on experience opportunities to gain skills needed for an entry level gardener/landscaper profession. This course will provide information, educational training on-site instructions; instructions on how to survey the soil, landscape, garden, weeding, planting, replanting, replacing, clip trees/shrubs/bushes whatever is applicable. You will be advised on how to manage, maintain and process foods for your well being towards a healthy lifestyle.
